2018 Direct School Admission (DSA) Exercise

Yuying Secondary School is a government-aided school that is guided by its core values: Integrity, Resilience, Respect and Responsibility. It aims to provide the learning experiences that will develop skills and competencies; preparing students for the future.

The 2018 DSA Exercise gives Primary 6 students the opportunity to seek admission into Yuying Secondary School to develop their talents, strengths and interests in the areas of Wushu, Volleyball(Girls) and Concert Band. In addition, student leaders are welcome to apply for admission through the category of Community Youth Leadership.

Admission Criteria for DSA Categories


Selection Criteria

Sports & Games

·   Wushu

·    Volleyball (Girls)

(i)   Represented school in:
• Zonal inter-school competitions or
• Have track record of achievements in external competitions .

Performing Arts

·    Concert Band

(i)  Represented school in SYF performances and/or other band competitions or

(ii)  Participated at public performances or

(iii)   Obtained relevant qualifications from Accredited Music Examinations.


·    Community Youth Leadership

(i)   Held leadership position within CCA or student body (i.e. Prefects, VIA Ambassadors, etc.) or

(ii)   Have experience in organising school events or led as team leaders for community service or VIA projects.

·         Have had conduct of ‘Very Good’ in Pri 5 and 6 in the holistic report

All shortlisted applicants are required to attend an interview or a trial/audition for the final selection.  For the Community and Youth Leadership Category, an interview and for the category of Sports & Games and Concert Band, a trial/audition.

Application Procedure and Timeline

1.    You may download the application form here.  Application form is also available at the General Office.

2.    Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

3.    All completed application forms with valid supporting documents must be submitted in person to:

Applications will not be accepted if submitted through other means i.e. fax, email etc. Incomplete application forms will not be processed.

4.    Supporting documents include Primary 5 (overall) and Primary 6 (mid-year) results and CCA records.

5.    The closing date for submission is Monday, 2 July 2018

6.    Shortlisted candidates will be required to turn up for the final selection between 2 July and 25 August 2018. Certified copies of documents such as testimonials and certificates will be required for submission, where applicable.

7.    Students currently not studying in MOE schools are to obtain a Registration Number and an MOE-issued form from MOE Customer Service Centre. This has to be brought together with the application form. A copy of this form will be retained.

8.    All applicants will be informed of the results of their application (Confirmed / Waiting List / Rejected) by 31 August 2018.

9.    Students with Confirmed Offer or on Waiting List will be issued with School Preference Form on 30 October 2018 through their primary schools. Students are required to submit their School Preferences to MOE via DSA-Sec Internet System or at their primary schools from 29 Oct 2018 to 2 Nov 2018 (3pm).

10. The final DSA-Sec results will be released through Primary Schools together with the PSLE results. The school's decision on the offer is final. We regret that no appeal will be entertained. The school reserves the right not to disclose the reason for non-selection of an applicant or to release the results of the trials.

NB : Applicants will only need to choose one of the two available sessions per areas.  Please also note that all sessions will start from 4pm and end by 5pm.
