Chinese Dance

Yuying Secondary School’s Chinese Dance is a CCA with a rich history. We accept students from any ethnic group. We adopt techniques from Chinese Folk and Classical dances, which emphasise the establishment of a solid foundation and the development of artistic expression by conveying emotions using the body and facial expressions.

We are actively involved in school and public performances. Internally, we perform in the school’s Chinese New Year celebrations and Speech Day.

The dance group has always been actively participating in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF). We have attained Distinction in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Apart from the SYF, we are actively involved in public performances, such as the National Day dinner and Chinese New Year celebration organised by the Paya Lebar Community Club.

Through dance, the students are able to serve the community and learn the values of service and teamwork. Dance is capable of not just helping a dancer maintain physical fitness, but also in cultivating one’s confidence and overcoming fears. We hope our members will continue to raise the prestige of Chinese Arts in this modern society.
