Chinese Dance

Chinese Dance
Yuying Secondary School’s Chinese Dance is a CCA with a rich history. We accept both Chinese and non-Chinese students. We adopt techniques from Chinese Folk and Classical dances, which emphasise the establishment of a solid foundation and the development of artistic expression, by conveying emotions using the body and facial expressions.

We are actively involved in school and public performances. Internally, we perform in the school’s Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn festival celebrations and Speech Day.

The dance group has always been actively participating in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF). We have attained Distinction in 2013 and 2015. Our school was the only Chinese dance item to be selected in the SYF Closing Ceremony in 2011.

Apart from the SYF, our troupe has been actively involved in public performances. We took part in National Day dinner organised by the Paya Lebar Community Club, the SMC Appointment Ceremony cum Founders' Day Dinner and the Alumni 20th Anniversary.

Through dance, the students are able to serve the community and learn the values of service and teamwork. Dance is capable of not just helping a dancer maintain physical fitness, but also cultivating one’s confidence and overcoming fears. We hope our members will continue to raise the prestige of Chinese Arts in this modern society.
